Transparency about how we make money helps you read the site with the right context. Shoals Painting Directory is a free resource; we do not charge homeowners to browse listings or read our guides. We earn revenue in one way — clearly labeled featured placement — described below, and it never affects which businesses qualify for a listing, the neutral alphabetical order, or what our guides say.
Some businesses may choose an optional featured placement that surfaces their listing more prominently in the directory. Featured and spotlight placements are always labeled (for example, a “Featured” or “Spotlight” tag), they are available to qualifying local painting, cabinet refinishing, and drywall contractors in Lauderdale and Colbert counties, and paying for featured placement does not change a business's category, its position in the neutral alphabetical order, or any editorial mention. A business that does not pay appears in the directory on the same basis as one that does: all non-featured listings keep the same neutral featured-then- alphabetical order.
The current spotlight listing is Shoals Painting Pros, pinned to the first position via the spotlight slot and labeled with a “Best of the Shoals” banner. That banner identifies the paid top placement — it is not an award, a ranking, or an editorial endorsement. Shoals Painting Pros is affiliated with the operator of this directory, and its placement is a paid spotlight separate from our criteria-based “Best of” rankings, which are ordered only by published criteria (Google rating tier, review volume, years in business, service breadth, and profile depth) and never by payment. The listing’s details come from the company's own published information.
The directory displays a clearly labeled “Sponsored Partner” band on the homepage. This is a paid placement for a single partner and is never presented as a directory listing or an editorial endorsement — it does not appear in the listing grid, in rankings, or in our guides. The current sponsored partner is Shoals Painting Pros, a painting contractor in Florence serving the Shoals. Sponsored partner placements are available to one partner at a time and are always labeled on the page where they appear.
The Shoals Painting Directory Editorial Team writes and reviews our guides independently of the featured-placement process. Guides are planned and written first; placements are decided after. No advertiser reviews or approves our editorial content, and our editorial policy governs how listings and articles are produced regardless of advertising status.
Outbound links to businesses, manufacturers, and government resources are provided for the reader's convenience. Where a link could generate compensation (for example, certain affiliate relationships), we will label it. Standard links to official sources in our guides are not advertising and are provided because they support the guidance in the article. See our methodology page for how sources are selected.
